Brand and Campaigns FAQ

This is a list of the most frequently asked questions about updating your Brand and Campaign information.

Does Vumber decide whether I can send texts?

No. When you register, your details will be forwarded to The Campaign Registry (TCR.) TCR and carriers are responsible for reviewing and ultimately approving your application.

I am a sole proprietor, and I don't have an EIN. What should I do?

Please consider applying for an EIN from the IRS as soon as possible. Once you have an EIN, it will be about three months before it is available in the IRS database. The carriers depend on this IRS database to approve your company/brand. If you have a newer EIN, TCR will insist on an extra verification step.

Can I use my SSN or state tax ID?

TCR is not accepting SSNs or state tax IDs at this time. Only an EIN issued by the IRS will be approved. Ideally, the EIN should be at least three months old so it appears on public records accessed by the carrier during the approval process. If you have a newer EIN, TCR will insist on an extra verification step.

I don't have a website. What should I do?

TCR and the carriers use the website to vet your brand and campaign. They reject brands that don't supply a valid/working website/web presence URL.

I have been sending texts for years using your service. Why do I need to register now?

The major carriers have been introducing new regulations on texting. Previously, many businesses used 10-digit numbers for texting without restrictions. However, this led to issues like spam and unregulated messaging. New regulations introduced by major carriers aim to enhance security, reduce spam, and ensure a better user experience for recipients.

I don’t SEND texts. Please opt me out.

Please let us know if you do not need to send texts from your Vumbers numbers. We will disable sending messages on your account. You can still RECEIVE text messages and make and receive calls.

I use Vumber for personal use. Am I exempt?

The wireless carriers have not carved out exemptions for personal use. They will only let registered companies send text messages through services like Vumber. We have no control over this decision.

Can I get an exemption based on an extenuating circumstance?

Unfortunately, no. The carriers will block traffic from all unregistered sources and will not deliver your texts to their subscribers unless you register and have an approved brand and campaign. This applies to all text message service providers like Vumber. We have no control over this decision.

I am okay with just receiving texts; I don't need to send them. Do I need to register?

No. You do NOT need to register to receive texts. Registration is only required to SEND text messages.

I only need to make and receive calls. Do I need to register?

No. You do NOT need to register to make and receive calls. Registration is only required to SEND text messages.

Do I need to do this to each phone number in my account?

No. Your single brand and campaign will cover up to 49 numbers on your account. If you have more than 49 numbers with Vumber and you want to send text messages from them all, let us know, and we will get you set up.
